PHOTOGRAPHY OF FINE ART

Lucas Imaging has a long history of photographing artwork for reproduction, both two and three-dimensional. Even two-dimensional artwork as paintings or other artwork such as quilts needs to lit as a three dimensional object to bring out the texture and detail which is lost with typical flat artwork lighting.

Once the piece is photographed, the images need to adjusted, fine tuned and prepared for the final uses. Uses include Web sites, juried competitions, portfolios and printing. Typically we work with the artist to consider all current and future uses to properly prepare the images before posting to the lucasimagingasoc.com website for download or written to a CD or DVD.

For three-dimensional artwork such as sculpture and ceramics, it’s best for the artist to be present in the studio during the photographic session. This insures that the proper angle and details are selected.
